Corrine's Shadow of the Colossus Game Diary

Shadow of the Colossus is a much loved little treasure put out by the developer Team Ico. I find it hard to describe, because I've never played a game like it before. There are no dungeons, no weapons to upgrade, no NPCs, no enemies to grind.

The game is based around a young man named Wander who has brought a young woman named Mono to a remote shrine. She's dead! A mysterious voice named Dormin tells Wander that he can bring her back to life by defeating the 16 colossi whose statues are around the shrine.

Equipped with his sword, a bow and arrows, and his trusty loyal horse Agro, Wander must ride around the world and topple these colossi in order to resurrect this girl Mono.

Michael introduced me to this game last year, but I didn't get it until spring. It's one of his favourite games, and as my diary progresses you'll definitely see why that is!

I certainly have. What I've seen so far of the game is incredible. Honestly, you can beat it in like, two or three days, but I haven't been in any rush.

I will update this with tales of my exploits over time. <3

I've played this game, and it was a nice addition to my collection, although after you beat it you never really want to play it again.

I think this is actually ones of the best factors of the game.

Make no doubt, it knows that it's a game. It's got all the requirements of that. But it did away with all the cluttered extras, gave you a goal, and provied you the means to achieve it. There's no needless "filler" content or overbearing layers to the system.

A game doesn't need to be complex to be a game; it needs to be immersive. And to be art, it needs a story that makes you think. Shadow of the Colossus is a work of art for those two reasons.

I look forward to reading this.
