TOKYO - Being one of Japan's biggest names, it's no surprise that Square Enix would be out in style at the Tokyo Game Show, and the company didn't disappoint, with Final Fantasy titles galore, the announcement of three new installments of the Kingdom Hearts series, and even plans for a new Parasite Eve game.

Kingdom Hearts

Square Enix announced plans at TGS for not one, not two, but three new Kingdom Hearts games! Each game will be set in their own locations and timelines, and will appear on three seperate formats; the Nintendo DS, the Playstation Portable, and mobile phones.

The first title, Kingdom Hearts Coded, is set to appear on mobile phone networks in Japan. Although this title is set to appear on mobiles, don't underestimate their power, the game is in full 3D, and retains to usual Kingdom Hearts atmosphere, and sees the players searching through the digitised pages of Jiminy Cricket's journal seeking answers to a forgotten page within the diary. The game is being co-directed by Hajime Tabata and produced by Kousei Itou. No release date has been given.

The second title will be known as Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and will see release on the Nintendo DS. Tht title continues on from the GBA title Chain of Memories, and will focus on the series' antagonists, Organization XIII. The game appears to be a cooperative multiplayer game, but using the same battle system as standard Kingdom Hearts titles.

The PSP title is tentatively being called "Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Interestingly, the title is actually a prequel, before Sora's time, where they were numerous KeyBlade masters around the world. The two leads appear to be a young boy who looks similar to Roxas, and a Zack look-a-like ala FFVIII. Of note is the fact that the secret ending from Kingdom Hearts 2 is infact directly related to this game.

Dissida: Final Fantasy

The Tokyo Gamer Show trailer for the upcoming cross generation Final Fantasy beat-em-up on the PSP was superficially identical to the one seen at the Square Enix Party a few months ago, with one major difference; footage of Squall Leonhart from FFVIII and Firion from FFII was included in the "new" trailer, adding to the already confirmed cast list of Zidane Tribal and Kuja from FFIX, the Hero of Light and Garland from FFI, and Sephiroth of FFVII fame. The game is still listed as a work in progress due, with no confirmed release date of yet.

Final Fantasy XIII

The showing of Final Fantasy XIII was a disappointing one, showing only a slightly extended version of the trailer for tha game seen at the Square Enix Party earlier this year. A few short footage of new locations were shown near the end of the trailer, but little else, though it should be noted that the trailer ended with the words "For PlayStation 3 Only", most likely to quell recent rumours of the game going multi platform.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

The Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer was slightly more generous, but still limited in content. A few new locations were shown, including a freeway in a deserted area, and a bridge which had collapses into a river. The footage was strangely devoid of any people.

The trailer also highlighted a few un-named character, including a blonde guy in a white shirt and grey vest, who smiled on a disturbingly constantly basis, and a long haired blonde girl, waiting for the game's lead, before aiming a sword in his directly.

Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday

A strange decision on Square Enix's choice, seeing as the world of Parasite Eve (based on the Japanese novel by writer Hideaki Sena) is one that has not be visited in game form for almost a decade. The game is set to appear on mobile phones, an increasingly popular format for the Japanese company of late it seems; the decision is probably simply to test the potential of a revigoration of the franchise on handhelds and home consoles.

A high quality trailer showed off a peaceful white chapel, which inside sat a young blond lady in a wedding dress. The trailer is clearly going for the more sureal design of the first game, and more in line with the related novel. It's presumed the lady is Aya Brea, the lead heroine of the game, though she looks significantly different.

As the trailer continues, the woman turns around to see a man standing in the doorway to the chapel, hidden in shadow by the light of the door. The blonde lady pulls out a gun, as she throws her wedding ring into the air... gunshots are heard, and blood spills to the floor, tainting the ring as it hits the ground.

As seems to be Square Enix's favourite decision this week, a release date for the title hasn't been announced either.

Expect this news story to be updated as trailers for each title become officially available to us.

Those are really actually all interesting ideas... I will definitely want to keep updated on how these turn out. Those Kindgom Hearts games are curious, and the Parasite Eve stuff interests me, as I've never played it before. :o

Birth by Sleep is actually fairly interesting even though compared to the rest list to me, I am not speaking as a fanboy but as someone who likes to see a somewhat more matured version of the series. Here is the complete secret movie down below from KH2FM+:

If Parasite Eve actually turns out to be good or if we'll ever see it, I'll be surprised. Now if they were playable, then I would be on the other side of the fence.

I have watched that so many times and dreamt of playing the games ^__^

Little dissapointed that it's a PSP title, but that's because that CG make you dream of more. At least I'll be more likely to afford it than a PS3 release <_<
