July's numbers are in, and Nintendo, to the surprise of nobody, is still the top dog in hardware sales. The DS and Wii continued to outsell all competitors, although sales of both did decline from June.
But then, so did everyone else's.

And now for the final instalment of our epic trilogy.
Regulars will recall the two recent stories concerning Tales of Vesperia, a 360 exclusive, and how the title has performed exceedingly well in a country whose adversity to the Xbox 360 is well documented.
It seems l...

Whilst this gamer feel that a large portion of the core gamer market needs to lighten up and look past their jaded perceptions of what makes a video game legitimate or not, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has gone on to apologise for the company's lack of such titles at this year's conference.
One common concern I've been hearing lately about the recently announced Wii Animal Cross is whether players will have to start from scratch, but I'll glad to confirm that connectivity between the Animal Crossing: Wild World on the DS and Animal Crossing: City on the Wii has been confirmed.

Earlier on, Nintendo made a surprise announcement for a new DS game.
Shockingly, it's Grand Theft Auto.
You can shut your gaping mouths now.
Called GTA: China town, it is set in Liberty city, and apparently will feature the same freeroaming fun that the other G...
Through this year's E3, we will keep you updated with a daily calendar of the events to look forward on that today. Today, the Nintendo and Sony press conferences, as well as conferences from Ubisoft and Capcom.
Square Enix have today announced plans for not just one, but two new titles featuring the company's famous yellow mascots, both due to appear on the Nintendo DS later in the year.
In Japan, Namco-Bandai has a press conference for the Tales series, which officially announced two games that were "revealed" via a Weekly Shonen Jump scan earlier in the week.
Kotaku have generously put put together a timing schedule of all the press conferences that will appear at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expos.
Check below for the full list of conferences, so you can mark off the date and time of the events you're most eager to catch.
A week or so ago, we had seen that Square Enix had modified their Japanese site with that of a clock. You are thinking "oh, no big deal, right?" WRONG! The clock seem to have some resemblance to the clock like C to Chrono Trigger, which is without a doubt probably one of the greatest RPGs of all time and perhaps the SNES as well.

A welcome announcement for fans of both the DS, and the Age of Empires series. Age of Empires: Mythologies is being released on the DS. However, no release date or age rating has been released as of this time.
At the end of the day, that's what every true fan cares about; whether Bill Murray will be attached the project. Ghostbusters actor Ernie Hudson was on hand to discuss the progress of the game.
Recently, Square Enix took a surprising move when they transferred the original Final Fantasy III to the DS, overhauling it completely with a new 3D graphics and refining the gameplay. Now it's Final Fantasy IV's turns, and the newest trailer has a lot of surprises up its sleeve.

Konami decides to throw the Nintendo DS bound Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on us, and for the first time in a long while, I'm truly excited about a new Castlevania game.
Nintendo’s announced that Wii's Nintendo Channel launched in Europe and Australia today.

Now this is a strange week; the PSP is selling so well in Japan right now that it's practically outselling the rest of the competition combined.
The Wii is also doing admirable, but it seems like Japan has little love for next generation gaming right now, with portab...
According to April’s NPD figures, the biggest selling game in America last month was the 360 version of GTA IV by a considerable margin, the SKU selling 1.85 million units.
Somehow, in the middle of the night, with almost nobody noticing, Nintendo today launched The Nintendo Channel.
It's a new addition to the Wii that lets users preview upcoming titles, receive news, and download playable demos for the DS.
Spurred on by the huge success of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and Cris Core: Final Fantasy VII, the PSP has seen something of a second coming in the land of the rising sun recently.
Nintendo still manage to hold onto the high rungs of the ladder rather substantially, wh...
Just get the damn things out already, Squenix!

Famed Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu recently published a list of their highest scored games of the year.
What's interesting is the abundance of Xbox 360 titles appearing on the list, despite the lack of support for the machine in Japan.
February's NPD results were released today, and things are looking good for the industry, with sales of all consoles up from January.
The DS regained its top spot, followed by the impossible to find Wii, Sony's PS2, the PS3, the Xbox 360, and the PSP.
After many years in the making. False news, false hopes, false dates; Maxis finally confirms an official release date for their highly anticipated life simulation game, Spore.
Spore is to be released on September 7 for the DS, PC, Macs, and Mobile Phones.
Figures shift around a bit this week; the Wii has shot well into first place, likely due to the release of Super Smash Brother Brawl in the region (jealous), whilst the Nintendo DS has surprisingly slipped into third place.
It lends itself to few surprises, really. The DS Lite has always had a dominant place in the Japanese sales charts, though the PSP's rising popularity in the east sees it slowly creeping up on Nintendo's diminutive handheld, with the Wii sitting comfortably in third place.
A few days ago, Nintendo compiled a complete list of upcoming releases for the Nintendo DS and the Wii up to the end of Summer.
Those hoping for the Wii to step away from it's casual gaming focus and embrace "traditional" gaming will be sadly disappointed though. It looks like casual gaming is here to stay.
You may have heard about a group of guys over at Cameronbanga.com who tried to beat Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Windwaker, and Twilight Princess in fourty-eight hours. During that event they were taking donations which all went to Child's Play.
If you didn't hear, they failed to complete all of the games due to technical and water temple issues. All was not lost as they raised $1,200 for Child's Play.
Only a few days ago did we discover the existence of a DS bound Assassin's Creed, but it looks like Ubisoft and portable game specialist GameLoft have been hard at work on this title for longer than we might have thought, and it's already close to release.
Jeux-France has reported in Nintendo Power's newest issue details regarding the SEGA / BioWare joint effort in the Sonic RPG.
The ambitious Assassin's Creed is a title most of us have experienced at this point, and whilst opinions on the game are squarely split down the middle, it's sales have pretty much assured that a sequel is already in the works.
Whilst we wait for that though, Ubisoft will be offering fans of the new franchise a DS prequel.
Newcomer REfanchris recently brought up the subject of games creation, curious about how to process of conceiving and developing truly a game comes together.
A number of anecdotes on this subject were recently posted on GameSpot, from some of the most respected names in the industry, discussing just how how difficult even simply pitching a concept for a game idea can be.
On 18th December 1987, a fledgling company made a last ditch attempt at success, and released the aptly named Final Fantasy on the Nintendo Entertainment System, to an unsuspecting public.
