Whilst this gamer feel that a large portion of the core gamer market needs to lighten up and look past their jaded perceptions of what makes a video game legitimate or not, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has gone on to apologise for the company's lack of such titles at this year's conference.

Remember when the Wii came out?
It had a game called Wii Music.
It never seemed to come out.
Now. It is.
Wii music, was desgined with the other Wii games, Wii Fit, Play, and Sports, back in the days of release.
Miyamoto says he wants to let everyone feel the j...
This went back and forth until a co-worker of Elliott's decided to change the smiley to a Pac-Man. To this Amy responded with a Ms. Pac-Man. Apparently inspired by the exchange of the two women, others within the building sprouted their own Post-It window creations in the form of a variety of Pac-Man fruit.
Mario's platform games have been famous for many reasons, not least for their emphasis of skill and timing within their charming 2D platforming mechanics, but never has this fact been put to such a productive use.
This is the sort of thing you just don't see every day.
As an Irishman myself, I'm devastated to not have had the chance to see this, but the launch of Mario Kart Wii over here was met with one of the most pathos-heavy games-related images ever; the rather stra...

Once upon a time long gone by, in an era long forgotten, there was one character at the start of one of the longest videogame series in history. Mario, the Italian plumber. Having made a very first appearance on the NES, the character was christened Jumpman.
Any gamer worth their cents will admit that the last month has been an incredibly generous one for us. Quality titles have been appearing left right and centre, but it's Mario who has stolen the show this time, pushing sales of over 500,000 copies in its first week alone.
In a move that has taken many video game fans in general, and Super Smash Bros. fans in particular by complete surprise, Nintendo has announced that the newest iteration in the famous fighting series, slated for a February 08
release, will include the ability to design and share custom levels.
It's been rumoured for months. Fans have been speculating, guessing, second-guessing, hoping and wishing. And now, it has finally been confirmed... Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be fully playable online over the Nintendo Wi-Fi network!
You may all rejoice now.
I can’t explain what happened that had allowed me to come here to this place. The world I had played on my Super Nintendo for years and years. All I know is that one night I fell asleep right in the middle of a game only to open my eyes in a world I have only seen on a TV screen. The World of Super Mario.
Many of the Smash Bros. series fans may have still been feeling rather stale after Nintendo’s failure to deliver Smash Bros. Brawl on the desired early 2007 date. But news of its new confirmed launch date; December 3rd has surely neutralised any hard feelings.
- Smash Brothers Brawl drops Dec. 3
- New Wii Zapper peipheral $19.99 with a unrevealed game. Ghost Squad, Umbrella Chonicles and Medal of Honor uses it.
- Zelda: Phantom Hourglass demoed by fan from the crowd
- Metroid Prime 3 demoed by a female fan from the crowd
Nothing Shigeru Miyamoto mentioned in the last GDC or in the new trailer points to Nintendo’s surprise for us with the new Super Mario Galaxy game for Wii, but the hints of something juicy are popping up.
