ICO - Walkthrough - The Outer Wall and the Stone Pillar < Back                ICO - Walkthrough - The Outer Wall and the Stone Pillar

Take Yorda over to the elevator and get on it. Operate the switch to cause it to rise. They exit onto a mostly fenced in area with a switch set too high in the wall to reach. The fencing around this area is broken at one point and it looks like Ico can climb down there. Stand near the edge and have him climb down onto the ledge below, then the ledge below that. He then needs to climb up onto that ledge. Now head to the left, then jump up on the top ledge. Continue to the left and press the 'X' button to drop down to the ledge just below, then the one below that. Finally drop down to the wider ledge. Walk around the corner and straight ahead as far as possible, then climb up the next two short walls. Walk left a little ways, then jump up onto the ledge and move Ico left until he's got a straight shot up. Climb up onto the top ledge and move to the right to the opening. Climb up onto the wooden platform. Jump off and go over to the moveable block and push it down into the area where you left Yorda and drop down as it's obviously time for more spirit monsters to attack.

A black pool will appear just to the right of the box. Have Ico stand next to it and start flailing away as soon as they start coming out. There'll only be a few of them and they should be easily dispatched. If one of the flying ghouls does manage to take off with her, she'll be taken down to the black pool below, where the elevator came up from. In that case, high tail it over to the elevator and attempt to get back down and pull her out before it's game over. Once they're all dispatched, have them get back into the elevator and head back up.

Ico should next pull the block over beneath the switch on the wall. Have him climb onto the box and pull the switch, which'll cause a chain to be lowered, that he needs to get to next in the Stone Pillar area. Walk off of the box and pull the block back over to where it came from. Climb up onto the block and then up onto the area above. Turn and call Yorda and help her up. Go over to the stone couch and save.

Walk past the first stone pillar in the wall, then climb up onto the ledge and then the ledge above it. Go left and you'll see that the next stone pillar is broken away on this level, that looks like it might be passable and is. Once past it, continue left a bit more until Ico is over solid footing, then drop down. Jump onto the floor only to see demons spilling form a black pool below. Fortunately this time they're only interested in Ico and will await his arrival. Walk over to the platform that extends out into space and continue carefully to the end of it. Carefully head down and do not drop off from it. Look for the window, then postion Ico so he's facing it and swing the chain, until he can jump and fly through the window. Prepare for battle.

It's another relatively easy fight. Just finish them off, then climb up onto either window and push a block into the plaza and jump down after it. Push the block to the left along the wall. When Ico reaches the stairs in the corner, have him move to left and start pulling the block past the stairs and along the wall toward the adjacent corner. Move to the back and push it the rest of the way into the corner. Jump on the block and then and onto the ledge. Follow the fenced in pathway until Ico comes to the chain. Have him climb it, then get up on the ledge, and head around to the right and up the stairs. Next go through the door and back onto a ledge in the Stone Pillar area somewhat above Yorda.

Walk along the ledge until Ico comes upon the ladder. Have him climb to the top, then walk carefully along the ledge. When Ico gets near the gap containing the chain, he should tread very carefully. Have him jump onto the chain and drop down a bit, so that he can swing on the chain and jump over to the other side (don't drop too far down on the chain). Although you can't quite see her via panning with the right mini-joystick, call Yorda and she'll run onto the grey metal plate. Move to the switch and throw it and the plate will transport Yorda across to the other side, and evoke another round of shadow demons. Quickly head back to the chain and jump on to it. Descend without delay and press the 'X' button to drop off. Yorda will most likely be in the portal pool by the time Ico gets to the floor. Have him go over and pull her out, taking a swing or two at the demons as necessary. Take her to the Idol Doors as soon as possible to dispell the remaining shadow demons and then head into the area.
