< Back              Final Fantasy X - Celestial Weapons

A minimum of two tasks must be completed before your group can begin to actually obtain their celestial weapons. Both of these tasks are relatively easy to accomplish.

First you must go to Remiem Temple and "speak" with the Champion Chocobo standing over on the left side of the temple. Note the gate behind the Chocobo. Learn the few simple racing rules, then head around to the other side of the temple's exterior to find the other Chocobo, which Tidus can use to race against the champion. Your main objective is to beat the other Chocobo to the lower center of the circular area before the Champion Chocobo arrives. It's very easy to do and you should be able to win the race on the first or second try. Start the race! Ignore the pylons and stay away from the chests during this race as they'll only slow Tidus and Chocobo down. As soon as you see a pathway down, take it, then continue forward. Tidus and Chocobo will soon come to another ramp down, take this one as well. Proceed forward a bit and you've won! Tidus receives the Cloudy Mirror as a prize for winning the race. You can race more if you wish to acquire some items. Just access the chests, which are empty (your prize is awarded at the end of the race), miss the pylons, and get to the finish line at the bottom before the Champion Chocobo arrives. See the table below for what can be won.

The second task can be accomplished nearby. Exit from the Remiem Temple and return to the Calm Lands area. Head south back through the entrance to return to the Macalania Woods. Return to the entrance, where Tidus will find a woman and a young boy standing near the initial Save Sphere. Talk to them to learn that the boy's father is missing. Head to the right and take the first upward path, which you can to find him. Tell him that his wife and son are waiting for him, which causes them to be reunited. Return to the couple to learn that their son has taken off! Head up the glistening pristine pathway until Tidus reaches the upward branch, where a traveller on the way to Macalania Temple was resting and blocking further ingress. The traveller has now disappeared and Tidus can head up the path, where in the next screen, he'll find the boy off to the side of the path. Talk with him and he'll return to his family below, and they'll then depart. Tidus now has access to the nearby glowing orb, which changes the Cloudy Mirror into the Celestial Mirror, which enables acquisition of the Celestial weapons, plus will allow them to be enhanced as well.

Tidus can only obtain these once, the following times, he'll receive a potion.

AuronMasamuneIf you haven't already done this, return to the Mi'ihen Highroad terminus, where your party met Seymour and the way was blocked just before they entered the Mushroom Rock area. Head along the Old South Road to get the Mars Crest from a treasure chest at the end.You need to capture ten fiends of ten species, which are all in ten separate areas of Spira. Return to the Monster Arena owner and speak with him to receive the Mars Sigil.Obtain the actual weapon by getting the Rusty Sword from the bottom of the Gorge area (lower right corner) in the Calm Lands. Use the the Djose Highroad exit from the airship. Head left for the broken machina, that the Al Bheds used against Sin during Operation Mi'ihen. Have Tidus climb up on the boxes, then jump down onto the other side. Continue south to Mushroom Rock road. Just a little ways forward, you can see a short path to the north on your radar screen. Enter it and step on the elevator to rise to the level above. Go to statue of the great Lord Mi'ihen, founder of the Crusaders, and choose to use the Rusty Sword, which causes a glyph to appear on a nearby stone wall. Send Tidus over to the glyph and choose to use the Celestial Mirror, and you will acquire the Masamune weapon for Auron. Rikku will then appear, followed by Auron, who's shown trying out the Masamune.

LuluOnion KnightReturn to the Guado village of Guadosalam. The Venus Crest is located in the Farplane area.Return to the Thunder Plains and Tidus must now dodge two hundred (that's excessive developers!) lightning bolts before leaving the area. As your characters receive their Celestial Weapons, you'll note that the weapons have four slots but only a single slot is customized with "No AP". Return (one or more times) to the end of the glistening pristine pathway in the Macalania Forest where the Cloudy Mirror became the Celestial Mirror and press the 'X' button in front of the glowing orb. You'll be presented with a list of your characters, from which you can select whose weapon(s) is(are) to be powered up. After doing so, the "No AP" designation is removed and four useful customizations will have been added.
