< Back Final Fantasy IX - Trance System
|
When a member of your party enters into a state of "trance", they will be embodied with new traits or skills that aren't normally available to them.
How Trance Works:
- The trance gauge only increases when you take damage from enemies.
- Getting hit by one of your own party members will not increase the trance gauge.
- Trance effects are activated automatically when the trance gauge is filled, and will only last for that battle. The gauge will revert to empty after the battle is over.
- After being activated, the trance gauge will go down in incremends each time an action is taken. Your character will revert back to normal once the bar is empty.
- If your character is afflicted by zombie or is killed in battle, the trance guage will empty automatically.
- Blank, Cinna and Marcus can't don't have trance gauges, and as such are incapable of entering trance
ZIDANE: Dyne
Zidane's battle command "Skills" changes to "Dyne". With "Dyne", Zidane can use a number of powerful special attacks, relative to the skills that he has already learned up to that point.
DAGGER: Eidolon
Dagger's battle command "Summon" changes to "Eidolon". When you use "Eidolon", Dagger will summon the selected eidolon onto the battle field as per usual. The summoned eidolon will continue to appear again throughout the battle, at random interval, without costing her a turn.
STEINER: N/A
Steiner doesn't recieved a new battle command like most of the other characters do. Instead, the strength of his physical attacks are tripled for the duration of his trance.
VIVI: Dbl Blk
Vivi's battle command "Blk Mgc" changes to "Dbl Blk". With "Dbl Blk" Vivi is able to cast two of his Black Magic spells in one turn, for the duration of his trance.
FREYA: N/A
Like Steiner, Freya does not gain a new battle command when she enters trance mode. Instead, when she uses her "Jump" skill, she stays in the air for a number of turns, firing spears at the enemy whilst staying off the battlefield.
QUINA: Cook
Quina's battle command "Eat" changes to "Cook". "Cook" allows Quina to eat enemies (to learn Blue Magic skills) when their health is below 1/4th of their maximum HP, instead of the usual 1/8th.
