Use of the Wii remote on a PC

Several Wii and Linux enthusiasts have gone through the trouble of developing support for the Wii controller on the PC. Though the Wii controller support can be described as flawed at best as it stands today from what we can see in the videos below, it can still be said it's an interesting turn in home brew PC-console development.

This naturally has the potential of turning into a lot of things. A Wii emulator on the PC, or full support for Wii controller on ordinary PC operating systems. The Wii controller can after all be considered to be a very simplified haptic device (well, disregarding the force feedback), so it’s applications are many.
Question is, will Nintendo do what they can to stop it? Or will they let it slide (like they’ve seemingly done in regards to emulation in recent years)?
