R.I.P the Air Guitar - Hello Guitar Hero II

As far as game launch stunts go... this was one of the more interesting one. With the birth of Guitar Hero II, came the death of the Air Guitar. Harmonix held a funeral, to mourn the tragic loss.

"We should remember the air guitar for what it was: a fictional instrument which entertained throughout most of its life, rather than the tragic figure which chose to commit suicide, drunk and alone, a single air gun shot to its headstock."

These were the words uttered as the guitar shaped coffin was borne up the aisle of the faux chapel in Shoreditch, East London. Slash, Gene Simmons and Buddy Holly (not the real deals, unfortunately - see picture below) were close by to mourn the death of our dear friend.

Boston's 'More Than a Feeling' and Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' - were rearranged for the chapel organ, with a rocker clad congregation hummed the songs aloud. The air-guitar was finally laid to rest by the lengthy queue, who threw plectrums into the casket before it was 'cremated' to the sound of 'Sweet Child O’ Mine'.

R.I.P. our beloved friend. Never again shall your non-existent strings be plucked. Never again shall you be waved around the room in a drunken frenzy, accompanied by some of the greatest guitar solos ever made.

You will be sorely missed.

...

So, whose up for a bout of Guitar Hero then?

Wow, I am both delighted and terrified. Ahahaha this is wonderful. I'm almost speechless. If I was interested at all in this game this would totally make me get it.

The air guitar is not dead... for it lives within my soul.

*breaks out into a frenzied air solo*

I scream to the heavens, lifting my guitar up high, so all can see the triumphant awsomeness of the instrument.

All jokes aside, I'm suprised they didn't do this sooner. The game was released, like, three weeks ago. It would've been cool to be there, but I'm suprised it wasn't halted by angry christians. Though I suppose not using a real church makes it okay.

What the fuck, that isn't Gene Simmons, it's Ace Frehley. And you said faux chapel twice. This thread fails miserably.
