Politics and Gaming come together in World of Warcraft

On New Year's day, supporters of Presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul who are also World of Warcraft players plan to hold a march through the WoW virtual world.

I don't know if I necessarily see the point of this, even though I am a staunch Ron Paul supporter, but it is, well, kind of cool.

If nothing else, it will help illustrate to the world that gamers aren't all the stereotypical brain dead, reality detached, uninvolved mongoloids that some in the realm of politics would have you believe.

I am a former WoW player, but if I were still involved with the game, you'd see my happy Priest walking amongst them. Ron Paul in 08!!

Thats a good idea, seeing as most people in the world are WoW players.

Though are they only marching in one Realm? Because if so, I would think this is kind of pointless.

Did they say anything sooner? they could have aranged marches for every realm and that just would have been awesome.

*Obligatory "Let the epic scale PVP/raid begin!" shout out.* :monster:

Honestly I'm a bit mixed on Ron Paul myself. Yeah I support the idea returning the office of the president to its classical role but in this day and age I don't think that's entirely possible. Also his somewhat ideology of "If we cut all these programs, all the problems they've created should magically disappear." and "hey lets return America to semi-isolationalism!" seems a bit far fetched.

Well... it's an interesting approach to say the say the least. It'll either go down brilliantly, or be a disaster.

Did they say where exactly he would be marching in? Is it a specific realm, or across a group of servers?

I know little of the upcoming elections, but Ron Paul is an interesting man. He seems to have lots of ideals, and smart ones at that, which could fix up a rather messed up country, but achieving those goals? That's another thing entirely.

Lets hope we don't have another JFK on our hands. It might sound far-fetched this soon, but who knows?

Sounds cool.

Reminds me of the strikes held on Second Life. IBM I think that was.

It's good to see gamers showing they care about this world and that they aren't brainn dead twits ^_^

It looks like someone actually took the time to record the event, and what a turnout it was too. Certainly an interesting approach. *laughs*

The "RP Revolution" was a Guild specifically made up of Ron Paul supporters, who followed the march through a large sector of the game's world. The rally started outside Ironforge with approximately 240 players (with 400 members in the guld) and travelled to Stormwind, Westfall, Booty Bay, Ratchet, and finally Orgrimmar.

The video above is a fan video. It's a little chaotic, but you get the idea.

Waste of resources, or a really smart idea? Decide that one for yourself.
