Tekken and Onimusha are two popular franchises with film projects that have been in production for quite a while now, but thanks to information gleamed from movie website ComingSoon.net, it looks like both movies are slowly moving forward towards completion.

The Tekken movie has jumped around from studio to studio since 2002, from Crystal Sky Pictures to Miramax subsidiary Dimension Films, and now Sony Pictures' Screen Gems, but at least Sony have gotten far enough into pre-production to at least develope a teaser poster.

After the Great Terror Wars, governments fell...
Seven corporations rose from the ashes to rule all men...
Together they were known as The Iron Fist...
The mightiest of which was...
Tekken

Ignoring the blatant contradiction in the fact that the term Tekken (鉄拳) actually means Iron Fist, this is about the most concrete information we have on the movie.

Seeing as Sony have such a close connection to the Tekken franchise itself though, here's hoping they don't completely butcher this one up.

The Onimusha movie is also progressing along nicely. Fans of the series (looking at you, Corrine) will be extremely glad to know that the movie, which is being produced in China under the watchful Davis Films, Gaga Productions and Capcom themselves, and being directed by director Christophe Gans, will star Takeshi Kaneshiro himself, reprising the character of Samanosuke Akechi, the character he originally made famous in the first and third Onimusha game by lending his own physical likeness to.

If that doesn't please fans, nothing will!

We'll keep you updated!

Well I am looking forward to the Tekken movie as long as it does not turn out like, Street Fighter or DOA. Never been an Onimusha fan but Ill watch it when it comes out.

Maybe... the Onimusha movie WONT suck!? That would be awesome. It always seemed extremely cinematic to me and I think it'd work as a film.

Don't care much about Tekken though.
