Castlevania Curse to Continue?

Perhaps not. Paul W. S. Anderson, primarily known for making potentially interesting movies into subsequent failures, has reportedly left the quest to make Castlevania into a live action movie. Movies based on video games most often are box-office disasters and the departure of someone known for crippling the possibility of the movie’s success is encouraging.

Andersons reasons are not known though it has been speculated that the direction of the movie was not to his liking or simply to focus more on his other movie project, a remake of Death Race.. Konami’s series has been delayed in being seeing the silver screen for ages but this might be the push needed to see it happen.

In other Castlevania news that’ll brighten some fans an anime based on Castlevania is also in the works. The production company IGA will be involved in its development. More details on the project is rumored to appear in the next few weeks.

Which will be written by Warren Ellis. Considering Ellis' success in comic books I think it's going to be a good one.

You know, I'm cut in half about this.

On one hand, most of Anderson's game adaptions suck. On the other hand, he has made some very credible indepedent films in his time too, and I've always thought the Mortal Kombat movie is one of the best game adaption ever, simply because they actually looked like they were having fun making it.

We'll have to see how this turns out, but I feel Hollywood will just end up turning into a teen-angst rompvest anyway.

Friankly I have no hopes for this one at all. Cynical I might be but I've never liked vampire movies (with a most limited exceptions) and video game movie almost always crash n' burn. The comic might hold some potential but I'm not exactly holding my breath for the movie. :S

I think it'll be a big cheese fest. I'll definitely go out to see it, though, because I heart Castlevania, and cheese fests!
