WipEout HD release date delayed for failing epilepsy tests

CVG is reporting that WipEout HD's release date has been been pushed back towards the end of this year due to failing epilepsy tests.

Presumably, the title "fails the epilepsy tests so much that it has to be re-engineered." SCEE boss David Reeves confirmed that the game will be delayed after failing to turn up at E3.

It begs me to ask the question though... how exactly do they go about testing something like this? Do they sit a person in front of a TV with the game, waiting to see if they have a fit, or what?

...anyway, we'll keep you updated when we find out more!

I'm of the personal opinion that they have a checklist of how many flashes can appear on a screen at any one time. More flashes, lights, sounds, etc. than allocated per time and your game is considered "high risk" for epilepsy. But I do have to ask, how bad is the game if it has to be "re-engineered"? Like, from the ground up?

Lol. Stuff like this always makes me think of that Pokemon episode.
