Virtua Fighter 5 goes multi-platform

Though its first home will (hopefully) always lie in the arcade, SEGA's home release of the next Virtua Fighter game, VF5 will pioneer on not just one home console (which has been the case for nearly a decade), but two.

The obvious first choice, the PS3 was always going to get the newest entry into the Virtua Fighter series. Since the Wii isn't an option, for obvious reasons, the Japan-unfriendly Xbox 360 will be the other console to receive a version of the game.

Virtua Fighter 5 will debut with two new characters (pictured below) - El Blaze and Eileen - and will go on sale on the 19th of February in North America for the PS3. It is due to be a launch title during the machine's European launch.

The Xbox 360 version is yet to be dated, but is planned for a summer 2007 release.

I've never much liked the VF series, but I've seen videos and previews of this one, and it does look like it will be fairly good.
If I ever manage to save up enough money for a PS3, this will definitely be one of the first fighting games I buy

Sony is losing ground again... Oh, well, I guess that is the price of a would-be launch title in Europe. I guess this is fairly okay, more money for sega and less to spend for us? I guess? in a way?
