Two new characters announced for Virtua Fighter 5 R

Sega announced today the identities of the two mystery characters that appeared in the AOU Amusement Expo trailer for Virtua Fighter 5 R earlier this year.

And the two fighters are... Jean Kujo and Taka-Arashi!

Jean is a newcomer hailing from France who uses karate and some distinctive footwork. Taka-Arashi is a name that will be familiar to long term fans; he was the sumo wrestler who debuted in Virtua Fighter 3, but was removed from future titles because... the creator felt they couldn't portray his body fat well enough.

No, really.

The latest arcade update to Virtua Fighter 5 - Virtua Fighter R includes a number of new features outside of these two characters. On top of the addition of more items and stages, Sega is also creating a new "Danshi Mode," where players take on the role of a fighter in training and learn new moves through battle.

VF5R currently doesn't have a release date.

Um, what?

That's...strange.

Anyways, good to see more characters, particularly those that are a bit more unique. <3
