Twelve Days of FFXII

Written By Worter des Elfenbeins 683 days ago
News Category: Gaming News

Though we here at Video Game Chat prefer to focus on more obscure areas of the video game scene, a rather unique promotion campaign on the part of IGN, for FFXII, deserves special mention, inspired by the upcoming Christmas season.

With the official sountrack for the games set to be released on the same day as the game itself, IGN have decided to go about revealing select information on the sountrack each day, up until the oficial release on Halloween, October 31st.

The countdown started four days ago, with the revealing of the full, folded out cover for the US sountrack, and the 21st showed us the inside artwork. Both can be viewed by scrolling down to the bottom of the page.

The 22th offered us a look at the full tracklist, which is as followed:

I can pretty much guarentee the best song there will be the one composed by nobuo. He's genius personified.

I just want to hug Nobuo, have you seen him? He's an adorable little japanese man with a mustache! Cuddlepoints for him, definetly.

But though Final Fantasy has played a large large role in my gaming life, I quit being an uber fanboy years ago. I know it will be ridicously packed in the game stores, and it'll be sold out for a long time unless I pre-order. And I don't have enough money/time to do that now. Noting the Christmas shopping season, I'll be staying away from all forms of franchises due to rabid shoppers.

But I will buy it, eventually. Because I haven't felt this way since FFX (11 was a joke for me. I wasn't going to spend a shietload of money on it -_-)

*sigh* I remember when I was at the movie theaters with some of my non-gaming friends, and the trailer for FFXII came out and I spazzmed in my seat and then jumped and wiggled because it looked so cool. They promptly pretened they didn't know me for a few minutes, and then my other friend goes. "Why are there playboy bunnies in this..game?"

In which I replied. "I don't know but I love it. <3/throb"

Don't be so sure, Dilmah. Sakimoto is a fucking BRILLIANT composer. Not as good as Uematsu, for sure, but I doubt that ONE Uematsu track would own the rest of the album.

Now, as for the album itself. I am intensely disappointed by the number of songs there. I've come to expect epic, multi-disc soundtracks from FF games, so this just seems very pale in comparison.

That entire album is one of my favourites. And not just game soundtracks... it's like, one of my favourite scores ever. EVER.

Off topic note: If Amarant wasn't blue, he'd be black. +1 for you.

Yeah definetly, there was something really awesome about it. Especially the opening song, the simple flute melody gives me goosebumps even to this day. @_@

But it's not even proper Uematsu, it's Uematsu with a girl singing. That worked with Melodies of Life, but Eyes on Me was pretty terrible. And that song that played during Tidus and Yuna's omg kiss love lol scene in FFX.

I think that on that entire album, there are maybe 3 songs I don't like.

I think Melodies of Life was awesome in both its forms, English and Japanese.
