Industry vets Sandeep Shekar, Jiovanie Velazquez, and Christopher Stockman make up the trip of the new development studio Blazing Lizard Inc. For those of you who may not have heard of this particular studio, they produced, or at least had a hand in producing, titles such as Freespace, the Red Faction series, and Saints Row. And while these titles brought Blazing Lizard out into the open, most of their wares remained a cyber mystery to all of us.
According to one of their inaugural press releases, Blazing Lizard wanted to focus their production and development on “console down-loadable games for all ages and demographics.” It really is no surprise to hear that is what they have been working on. And for quite some time now, they have been trying to tease visitors to their site with high-res shots of their newest game. It wasn't until yesterday that the shots cleared and we all learned what this new games was.
Blazing Lizard has decided it was about time to answer the one question that has been burning in all of us for ages. Forget questions like “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” And don't even wonder about questions such as “If a tree falls in the forest, and there is no one around to hear it, does it make a sound?” That's right. Blazing Lizard needed to answer the basic question of stealthy vs swarthy. They wanted to answer the question of “Ninja or pirate?”
According to studio director Chris Stockton, “This is the ultimate in rivalries, and we aim to have them settle it with all out balls to the wall action.” Now who couldn't appreciate a nice death match of dodge ball? Although, the question now is where will you be able to play this. No man, whether pirate or ninja, can say. The game “is poised to redefine consumer expectations of console down-loadable games when it's released for a TBD platform in the first quarter of 2008.” Although it can't be certain which platform will be used, we know which ones wont. Blazing Lizard is only speculating on the choices of: PSP, DS, PS3, X-BOX 360, Wii, or perhaps even PC. Avast, there still be too much mystery.
In the meantime, I suppose all we can do is check out the screen shots and concept art in the gallery, and sharpen our peg legs and shurikens. If you can't wait, I'll tell you who wins.
Pirates. Pirates always win.

This begs one important question...
Why has nobody decided to do this sooner?!
It'll probably end up being a really, really terrible game, but hey, it's Pirates vs. Ninjas., so I don't care either way.
BTW, Ninjas are always victorious. |

YESSSSSS! YES. Just PURE yes.
A friend of mine spoke for nine minutes in front of a crowd about Pirates vs Ninjas a few years ago. Possibly the funniest 9 minutes of my life. I'm SO glad there will be a game.
Although Ninjas are cooler... Pirates FTW! |

Because I am a narutard, I will have to say ninja. Pirates aren't exactly what they used to be, and the modern pirate can leave you FUBAR.
