Take-Two sues Chicago Transit Authority over removal of GTAIV ads

According to a recent Reuters news report, Take-Two has justly decided to sue the Chicago Transit Authority after a decision by the company was made to pull $300,000 worth of Grand Theft Auto ads from public transport spots in the city last month.

The suit seeks an order for the transit authority to run the ads as well as monetary damages of at least $300,000.

According to the suit, the campaign was removed after a new report by their lovingly uptight Fox News affiliates that questioned why such ads were allowed to be run following a wave of violent crimes in Chicago.

Clearly, these crimes only occurred because of the existence of the Grand Theft Auto IV ads, right? What other possible reason could their be?

Please note my extreme sarcasm.

"Although we prefer to resolve these issues amicably," a Take-Two spokesperson said in a statement, "the CTA has refused to discuss with us its outrageous decision to pull advertising for the critically acclaimed game Grand Theft Auto IV while running ads for other forms of popular entertainment with similar content, including mature-themed TV shows and R-rated movies."

This is just plain nuts.

From the way it sounds it sounds like there has been some back handed pressure put in somewhere on the Chicago side of things.

It is just plain ridiculous though trying to make out that GTA causes such crimes, do they actually expect us to believe a world without GTA would have less crime?
Also having up other mature ads which could be argued to cause crimes as well is just plain hypocrisy of the worst kind aka the stupid kind.

*laughs*

They actually removed the ads because of some comment by Fox News? God, that's hilarious. If I were Take Two I'd be suing CTA too. :P As if a video game was the cause of the crimes...xD

That was a lolling good time. :P
