Any gamer worth their cents will admit that the last month has been an incredibly generous one for us. Quality titles have been appearing left right and centre, but it's Mario who has stolen the show this time, pushing sales of over 500,000 copies in its first week alone.
Considering the general drought of "proper" games on the Wii format over the last few months, it's certainly encouraging to see an influx of titles on the machine that gamers can really sink their teeth into; Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime, and others.
And now, Super Mario Galaxy.
So overjoyed and appreciative gamers are by Mario's return to form in fact, that Super Mario Galaxy has managed to comfortably slot itself into
Game Rankings in the second place position, alongside such revered classics as Ocarina of Time, Soul Calibur, and Metroid Prime.
Look like this one will be sticking around for a while.

I bought it at release for my son. It's a Christmas present. It really is
for him, but I suppose I'll try to sneak in some time on it when he's not
playing. |

Impressive im surprised by Mario - It seems to stick around rather than die...
Sonic games are quite similar in the sense they stick around - but the games are dead... and not many people buy the games as they are quite poor... |

This is also impressive considering that there was almost no advertising the game aside from game reviews.
Also, game of the year, hands down. |

Anyone who has played the game can attest to why it's doing so well. It's a little gem. It's easy to pick up, it's charming, and it's original. Definitely one of the best games this year and for the Wii in general. |
