Square Enix recently hosted a party in Shinjuku where they showed off some of the innumerable titles they're currently working on. Here's a list of the big announcements and information that came out of it.
• Another Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer was shown. SE, in their notorious fashion, held this in a closed theater and prohibited internet access and recording. So while it isn't available online right now, we can hope someone will sneak us a copy. The only info thats been made available about the trailer is that it is still a PS3 exclusive worldwide.
• Final Fantasy Agito XIII and The 3rd Birthday, both planned mobile phone games, are now coming to the PSP as well in Japan. While FF Agito XIII still has no projected release date, The 3rd Birthday is dated for a 2009 release in Japan. Both games have not had much press outside of Japan because of them being on mobile phones only inside the country. This should definitely change that and allow a greater possibility of them going outside Japan. The 3rd Birthday for those who don't know is a spin-off of Parasite Eve II. It will feature the main character from the previous Parasite Eve games though.
• Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete now has a projected release date of March 2009. This is only in Japan, but the big news is that it will come with a demo of Final Fantasy XIII on the disc along with videos of FF Versus XIII and FF Agito XIII. FF VII: AC Complete is the Blu-Ray version of the film with more extra content, re-done scenes, and of course a graphics overhaul for HD. We can only hope this releases to other territories around the same time or the FF XIII demo comes out on the PSN too.
• Last week it was announced that Cloud of Darkness and a generic Onion Knight, that looks somewhat like Ingus, from FF III would be joining the Dissidia roster. 1up did a preview of Dissidia and mentioned that only nine FF's would be represented in Dissidia. This comes in contrast to Neogaf and PSPHyper reporting that Golbez from FFIV, Ex-Death from FFV, and Kefka from FFVI being spotted in the newest trailer. If this was true then that would bring the count to ten FF's being represented in the game. Hopefully they can fit the first ten FF's in their, but some, including myself, think that if any one of the FF's are going to be excluded it would most likely be FFV. This is all speculation so we just have to wait for the trailer to hit the internet sometime. Dissidia is also getting its own PSP bundle in Japan. It will be similar to the Crisis Core bundle that featured the game, a silkscreened PSP, and a Potion soft drink.
• Finally their is some general trailer news from NeoGaf. While small things like Snow White being confirmed for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep were prevalent, the most interesting news comes from the FF XIII trailer. The trailer shows more gameplay supposedly, but unfortunately does not include actual battles. Like FF Versus XIII these were shown in a closed theater. Keep on the look out though, if these do get posted then we will have them up here.
Kind of sad you didn't get invited or get a ticket to Tokyo? Your not alone.

Sounds like a decent event, but Square Enix's over-reliance on franchises has continued to make me less and less interested in the company over the years.
Still, most of these will be worth playing. |

Square enix have already said they would possibly consider it in the future.
They are already making enough games as it is.
So really, there's no need for that comment. |

And it's gonna be a good year. I am excited for all the games mentioned so it's good news all around. Hopefully US releases (and PAL for all you across the pond folks) are announced not to long after. |
