Considering that Grand Theft Auto IV is one of the biggest titles to be released in the last few years, it's no surprise to see both industry veterans fighting for the claim of being the "true" home of Grand Theft Auto.
From Microsoft's side:
"Today it has become clear that consumers are finding Xbox 360 the best way to experience Liberty City and we expect this trend to continue, especially with exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV episodes coming to Xbox 360 in the autumn," said Chris Lewis, vice president of Microsoft's EMEA interactive entertainment business.
"Grand Theft Auto has a new home on Xbox 360, and consumers are discovering how our platform can enhance the experience like no other."
From Sony's side:
"I think Grand Theft Auto, the franchise, has always been associated with the PlayStation platform first and foremost, and so I think consumers are coming back again," he said.
"They had previous versions of Grand Theft Auto on previous platforms, so it’s always good to come home to PlayStation 3 as well, I think."
“Well, it’s really up to the consumers to decide,” he said. "As I said before… it’s a franchise that’s associated with PlayStation for the longest time, and I think that based on the numbers I'm seeing right now, I think the consumers feel that way as well."
I have to wonder what figures Kaz Harai is looking at, seeing as
sales of GTAIV on the 360 outweight those on the PS3 by nearly a third.

I guess its a question of better visuals, or downloadable missions. There are arguements for both I suppose. |

.....Each to thier own.
I bought the 360 version, because of two reasons.
I only have a 360.
I dont want to install it, to STILL get loading screens. =/ |

From what I hear, the 3.4 gigs you install on the HDD for the PS3 (which is only a fraction of the game) isn't to "eliminate" load screens. It does contribute to slightly shorter load times, but it also helps to create a smoother game environment and it apparantly nearly eliminates the "pop-ups" which can be a real pain in the ass. People have reported between 7 and 20 minutes to install it. I remember playing San Andreas and flying the jet into a tree that wasnt there until 3 seconds after I hit it! |

Watching the two companies bicker over who the consumers favor in terms of which console to use GTA on is like watching little kids argue over who came up with the latest game they play for the evening. Does it really matter? So long as the gamer enjoys the experience...
Although I do roffle at Sony using a statement of how the numbers favor them when the opposite is true...xD |
