Singapore jumps the gun on Mass Effect ban

After the outrageous banning of Mass Effect in Singapore, it seems that the SMDA has seen the error of there ways and relinquished the country wide ban and have allowed the game to be shipped in its entirety.

The conflict began when the SMDA was informed of a gay love scene involving two woman (one an alien) within the game, a video of which can be seen below.

As you may have noticed, this scene really isn't enough to warrant a nation wide ban on one of the most hotly anticipated Xbox 360 games to date, and the SMDA has come to realize this as well.

Was Singapore jumping the gun? Possibly so. However in a recent statement the SMDA States that they will be reviewing the game rating systems in Singapore to be more accurate. However in a country where it used to be illegal to chew bubblegum, the word "accurate" could probably be taken subjectively.

I am thinking this game is going to sell very well in Singapore, and every where else for that matter.

Yes it seems they where jumping the gun as that scene is not even riske it's more suggestive then anything defiantly not worth a country wide ban.

I think it was entirely stupid to ban the game for that scene - it wasn't even sexual! I bet they didn't even see it before they banned it.

Glad they came to their senses.

Apparently, that isn't the intended scene.

This is.
technically it isn't a gay love scene as the Asari (blue chick) are an all female race and are able to mate with both sexes of nearly any species
So yeah they probably should've been aware of that before banning it. :monster:

One example of people not caring about the why but the what. Besides did they give the game a through overview or did they just give it the ESRB treatment and just watch footage of said game or ask question about "why this is like this? Or like that?" As you said, coming from a country that bans bubblegum, I wouldn't bet on it either.

It was something to do with the representations of minority groups or something like that I think.

That second vid is just a little more steamy than the first <_<
