Rockstar unveil latest GTAIV trailer video

Back in March, VGC was quick to unveil the first details about GTAIV as soon as they were released. Since then, fans have been paitently waiting for the next peak at the title, and the long, arduous wait for new details about the title is finally over.

The latest GTAIV trailer, titled "Looking for that Special Someone", reveals a few snippets of the gameplay that will take up the play-time of new frontman Nikko Bellic, and dives a little deeper into the reimagined Liberty City, which bears a much more striking resemblance to the city of inspiration, New York, than the previous titles to feature the city have.

The trailer, played to the music of Shy Child's remix of "Arm in Arm", previously sung by NYC-based indie band The Boggs, shows the game's reluctant criminal Bellic's journey to the "city of liberty", driving over the game's replica of the Broklyn Bridge, known in-game as the Broker Bridge, interspersing different scenes of Bellic conversing with a number of unamed characters, meanwhile involving himself in the series; trademark car chases, robberies, shootouts, and general shady situations.

Although the trailer is light on gameplay details, it does give a detailed insight into what players can expect from the world. Most of the casual walking and driving sequences in GTAIV have been confirmed as being actual ingame content, with very natural body movements and car mechanics (cars can be driven slowly, for sightseeing purposes, for instances) that should immerse the player in the gaming world far more than the previous titles have.

Gone also are the superficial RPG and dress-up elements of the most recent GTA games, in an attempt to keep the gameplay focused on it's core elements; immersion in a freely accessible and diverse sandbox enviroment, where the player can define a large degree of the game experience for themselves.

Grand Theft Auto IV is set for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 16th of October in America, the 19th of October in Europe. Here's hoping that it'll be worth the wait.

Oh shit, that's hot. That music is great, first of all. Great mood. And the graphics are beautiful. The story - what little we see of it - looks interesting.

I wonder if they'll put this out on PSP?

This game looks like sex in your eyes. I can't vouch for the sound, what with having no speakers, but visually the game is looking stunning. Definitely something I'll look towards getting one day when the PS3 becomes cheap :monster:

Well I'm impressed. As said above I love the music! As for the graphics, well I don't think anyone's going to be disappointed there.

Really looking forward to this one, and I hope they do release it for PSP. Or at least a new version for PSP.

But like most of the GTA series, I reckon it will be worth the wait!

Oddly enough, I'm looking forward to giving this game a go. I say oddly because
I've never particularly enjoyed the series in the past. (they always seemed too monotonous and repetitious) But, I like that this game supposedly exponentially ups the interactivity and exploration of the series. I'm...intrigued.

I managed to unearth some interesting information about the game whilst travelling around website, which is apparently from a "reliable source inside Rockstar". It gives away few details about the guy in the video, and what direction the game's story will take.

Do *not* click the spoiler button below if you want the story ruined for you! It's officially being considered a rumour by the press right now mind you, but we'll have to wait for the game to come out before anything can be confirmed.
Nikko Bellic is being used as a Mcguffin device to keep the real Main Character out of the spotlight, The real main character is Roman Petronov, Nikkos cousin who invites him to live in Liberty after Nikko has a HUGE falling out with a paramilitary/Mafioso hybrid wing back in ESTONIA.

Back to 2007, Roman invites Nikko to the US with lies of his fancy living, just because he needed Nikkos help in dealing with shady characters trying to move into his little slice of heaven, which is a Taxi-Firm Roman works at on a co-operator term.

You WILL play the prologue missions as Nikko, to give you a hint of the new controllers, sadly, I dont know the schemes yet, but as soon as I do, you do.

Anyhow, about three quarters through the prologue, Nikko goes for his cousins associate " Mosha " to recover some drug money from one of the FOUR gangs in Liberty, a mainly South American gang modeled after the Columbian Cartels from GTA3, and the real life MS-13 gang, named " Carta ( Car Tuh ) Once ( Own-Said minus the D ) literally Card 11.

During this deal, Nikko gets murdered, and Roman ( Who was a great guy naturally, and never harmed a soul in his life ) becomes deeply depressed, because he feels responsible for Nikkos death, who was his only friend, and his guard dog in a brutal new world.

Armed with nothing but grief, and a deep hate for himself, Roman goes off the deep end, leaves his meager but honest job, and decides that in Liberty City, theres only one way out for a criminal AND a working man, and thats through the cemetery, so why die a shnook when you can die a rich man.
An important point about the above is that, if it is true, it very much contradicts a lot of things that Rockstar have claimed about the game's storyline. Only time will tell, I guess.
