We here at VGC generally prefer to post news pertaining to videogame culture, as opposed to reporting every new game and every new screenshot that comes out on the market. The official announcement of news games are a rare thing for us to post, but then, there are rarely any genuinely unique games worth reporting about.
L.A. Noire certainly comes across as an intriguing prospect for a game, at least in theory. Officially announced by Rockstar Games yesterday, L.A. Noire (for the PS3) takes its inspiritation directly from it's namesake - the classic detective noir stories of the 1940's.
Little information is available at present, but all press release graphics and teaser trailer have hinted at one thing... the entire game may be in black and white.
Rockstar have always been a company with a knack for embodying their games with faithful, unique, and often satirical personality. Whether it be the faithful recreation of "The Warriors", or the various time periods of the Grand Theft Auto games. What the company can do with a detective noir style should be an intrigueing prospect, at the least, and one that has been largely untouched since the adventure game Discworld Noire.
Also of interest is the supposed faithful recreation of Los Angeles as it was back in the 1940's. All the stereotypes of that time - jazz included - are expected to fill out the atmosphere for the game.
The full trailer for L.A. Noire is due to appear on the game's
official website on Oct 5th. Hopefully, the unique approach beeing tooted won't be marred by a poor game.

Sounds interesting, and if it has a full Jazz soundtrack, it could be very awesome indeed. What console will it be for? |

I had a feeling you'd like this idea. :)
Knowing Rockstar's past effort, it's undoubtably going to have a deliberate 40's soundtrack. Be it jazz, swing music, or whatever else took their fancy back in those days.

PlayStation 3. It says so on the third paragraph. |
