Resistance Controversy ends with Church forgiving Sony

Some, especially those in the UK may Remember that a Manchester Cathedral had accused Sony of "disrespecting people of faith and victims in Manchester gun crimes." for having a digital depiction of their cathedral in the PlayStation 3's first person shooter launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man

[sumIn one level on Resistance, players are sent into a cathedral where aliens have taken up residence and have to clear the area.

What angered the good Reverend Rogers Govender, dean of the cathedral was that players with guns were entering into what was a version of their cathedral.[/sum] The good reverend had called for a boycott on Sony and Resistance and had asked the British Academy to remove Resistance from its nomination for the British Video Game Awards

However after Resistance failed to collect a BAFTA from the British Video Game Awards. The very reverend felt that Sony had learned a very good lesson and has decided to forgive Sony.

Ironically though, Reverend Rogers did admit that because of the controversy, attendance to the cathedral had increased, especially by young people. Looks like Resistance did some good for the church after all.

LOL. The Church thinks it has influence. That's a good one.

I don't even need to post anything. This sums it up completely.

"Oh no, people aren't allowed to use our churches in a story as a metaphor for human suffering and fear. That would be wrong, so we're going to whine and whine and whine until someone listens... or we get bored."

I fail to see how the BAFTAs come into this though.

And this had NOTHING to do with the whole thing, what so ever?
