New Prince of Persia gameplay details and screenshots

Getting tired of seeing screenshots of the new Prince of Persia yet? Well, tough, because I'm not! But as an added bonus, we've actually got some information about the game to go with them this time.

A recent preview on EuroGamer offered some scant details on how the game's new dual character system works, where combat is supported by new character Elika, who interacts with you directly during fights.

"The ‘Elika button’ - triangle on PS3, which the game’s being demoed on - is the one-stop shop for all your companion-related needs. It's all contextual: bugger up a jump and she'll sweep to the rescue; press it when you're just standing around and you can have a nice old chin-wag. This is used to convey extra background on the story and characters for those who are about such things, in a similar manner to the function performed by the tapes in BioShock."

The screenshots below give a very good indication of how thi system will be employed. And these screenshots are especially nice looking. Enjoy!

If a gameplay trailer for this doesn't appear at E3, I'll eat my hat.

I want to see some screenshots from the DS version of this game as well. It always seems like developers are reluctant to show us screens from the more low-tech systems.

That's because screen shots only really show graphics, and the DS is going to fail in that regard.

Even so, I can't be the only one who wants to see what this game will look like on the handheld?

I wasn't saying you were wrong.

Just responding to this.

Ehhh.... I don't really like the style. I mean, it just looks to cutesy when you remember how much ass you had to kick in the first (3D) game. Still, PoP titles always grab my attention, and Assasin's Creed has recently reawakened the wall-jumping, soldier-stabbing, free-running gamer in me. We shall see, Ubisoft. We shall see.
