The wider mainstream video game market has received appreciation and exposure through award ceremonies for many years, but the smaller, independent development scene has little of the same to commemorate the work and creative talents of independent developers.
To that end, Microsoft have launched a new initiative, the Xbox Live Arcade Awards, to celebrate the creme de la creme of it's downloadable service. It might only cover the Xbox 360 service, but hey, it's a start.
Voting is open to all gamers through
Microsoft's website, and users can cast their votes for the winners of each categories up until Wednesday, January 30. The results will be presented at the Game Developers Conference 2008 in February.
