Recent rumors of the new purposed release date for Metroid are not encouraging. Despite Nintendo’s claimed commitment to release it for early 2007 sources have learned that the date it hits shelves may in fact be 12/31/2007. This shift in date comes from customers of Best Buy who have reported receiving letters about their pre-ordered shipments with no explanation for the change.

Nintendo have declined to comment on the rumors and maintain the release date of 6/1/2007 on their official website. Why Best Buy’s date for release was changed and Nintendo wasn’t has not yet been determined though it is known that retailer sometimes have different arrival dates for games. However, taking into account the issue with Wii’s shortage of games this new development this poses another obstacle for Nintendo in promoting the console if this holds true.

Though this isn’t a definite delay it could prove a costly one for Nintendo by alienating fans if one of its biggest game series isn’t released this year.

It's like it's one the Nintencommandments or something. Thou shalt fucketh with thine customers by pushething back all cool games. Still, I'd rather have gold later than crap tomorrow.

By: Somasu On: 08:55 Mar 14th, 2007 Offline	First off, I'm going to say that I'm not putting my money on this being true or not. I mean, Best Buy isn't the best place to check for release dates. The fact that they're saying "12/31/07" makes me think that they're just saying that it SHOULD be out by that time (which is the end of this year, making Nintendo keep their promise of releasing the game in 2007). And the fact that Nintendo's keeping secrets about this is really quite normal of them.. as they normally don't say anything about releases until a month or two or three prior. However, if it is delayed, then it'll mean the game will be better.. but another thing it'll mean is that Nintendo had better get some good games out there beforehand. Delaying all of the big titles so far back won't make a lot of people happy, as I've heard countless people say they're not getting a Wii until Brawl, Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, etc. are released. Nintendo had better make sure they get lots of good games on their Wii console this generation because right now, I'm honestly having doubts as to whether or not they can make it on top this gen.

By: The Devil You Don't On: 02:48 Mar 15th, 2007 Offline	I'm not sure that they delay games for all the right reasons I can't forget that twilight princess was delayed right onto the Wii and then game out on the gamecube a scant 7 months after the inital release date. I have to ask was it better for the wait.
