LocoRoco sequel planned for PS3

Fans of LocoRoco will likely rejoice as the game's producers hinted at the return of the popular title to be planned for the PS3, last week at the GDC.

Hints of a transition appeared in the PS3 Home lecture by Phil Harrison. By the time Tsutomo Kouno gave his musings on the enhancements he'd like to see on a possible second game, theories on the future of LocoRoco filled the air. The director mentioned the desire to see group AI, visuals, and controls improved for any future game.

Kuono said fans would not be "betrayed" with how a possible LocoRoco sequel integrated the PS3's Sixaxis tilt controls, but he was rather cryptic besides; however, it wouldn't be difficult to translate the PSP-oriented controls to the PS3.

Phil Harrison has stated before that LocoRoco will return "in a couple of new ways with some new friends in the future," even though Sony has not yet released the news that there'll even be a LocoRoco sequel. Hopefully we will see "LocoRoco's next version" as a worthy continuation of the original title.

I'd be interested to know exactly how they translate the titling needed in the game to manuever the...blob. :P As far as I understand, that's a critical part of the game and having difficulty with controls is a real killer in a game like this.

Still, it's an exciting prospect and I'm gonna check it out when I get the chance.
