Nothing's confirmed yet but if the rumours are true, plans for a Heavenly Sword 2 sequel have been canned. As reported by Kotaku, it's been dropped off possible development because it wasn't viewed as "financially viable" anymore, or so sources say.

It's a discouraging development, and one can't help but wonder if this is a sign of something more alarming with Sony Europe. Being the rumored third game having to hit the chopping block, questions abound if SCEE has any more games in the works that won't see the shelves.

In addition it doesn't help that Ninja Theory, the development studio that worked on the original Heavenly Sword, are disgruntled at their treatment from Sony and are vacating their offices where Sony resides.

It's art design is unmatched in the industry, and the animation sets entirely new standards for... well... everything. Watching it in motion is a sight to be hold. The only thing that kills it are the atrocious ranged combat section. Get rid of those, and the game is a masterpiece. It's a pity there won't be a sequel, but I think it'll make the game more special and unique that way. <3
