On 18th December 1987, a fledgling company made a last ditch attempt at success, and released the aptly named Final Fantasy on the Nintendo Entertainment System, to an unsuspecting public.

20 years later and Final Fantasy, brainchild of the now legendary Hironobu Sakaguchi, is one of the most successful videogames franchises in the world, with a long living and loyal fanbase spanning the entire globes and multiple generations of people. Video Game Chat, on behalf of the rest of the gaming community, is proud to wish the Final Fantasy series a very happy 20th birthday, and our best wishes for many more to come.

We plan to stick around to celebrate the next 20 years of the franchise, and we sincerely hope that you'll be around to celebrate it with us.

More exciting FF news! This must be the official Final Fantasy Day. Well, I've been around since the first FF but I hope I won't be around for the last for I hope the series continues long after I'm gone so many more generations can enjoy this fun series.

I am older than Final Fantasy by two months and five days, lol. I am celebrating in my own way *playing Final Fantasy 1 and 3 on NES*. Final Fantasy 3 is a blast even on the NES.

My celebration is going to be late, but when we I get a chance, I'm going to wrangle Matt into helping me make up a drinking game based around playing blitzball. Hopefully we'll be able to come up with something pretty fun. (He'll probably think the idea's lame, but I like it!)

I'll celebrate this by trading in my copy of Final Fantasy for the PSP. *laughs* I'm glad it's been around this long to celebrate its 20th birthday, but it's not too engaging for me to play. I've never gotten very far in any of the FFs I've played, and haven't desired to play many. I'm sorry to be the spoilsport.

A drinking game based around Blitzball? How the hell does that work? O.o

Well, the basic idea I had was every time you score a goal, you have to take a shot, therefore the better you do, the more trashed you get. Then I got to thinking about how low some of the scores for games can be. I figured that maybe there'd be other specifics, such as if you land a sleeper shot on the goalie you take two shots. *shrugs* Something like that. I've never been a big blitzball fan, but I though it would be something to make the game lots more fun. Especially if we got a few of our friends together and played it while keeping track of wins.

I don't know. What do you guys think? Too stupid?
