Grand Theft Auto IV release date may be delayed further into 2008

Usually any news about Grand Theft Auto: IV has been mainly good news, from the special edition bundle pack to its likely probability of outselling Halo 3 3:1.

However, though not official yet it might be possible a second push back date for the highly anticipated title by Rockstar Games might be in the near future.

During an interview at the BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Summit, newly placed CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick was unwilling to give a set date for GTA: IV's release.

Normally Rockstar Games has been seriously adamant at picking a set release date and meeting that date and Rockstar Games had made a big risk move of taking Grand Theft Auto: IV out of its October 16, holiday release date and pushing it back to the second quarter of 2008.

A second possible push back could have players not seeing Liberty City again until the holidays of 2008.

Strauss's unwillingness to give a date now might not lead to a push back but rather it could be possible that the newly placed CEO would want to make an official announcement to the public on GTA:IV's eventual release rather than just giving it out at an interview.

I seriously don't understand why they would hold back on this game. Is the designing going so badly that they would risk losing the lucrative Holiday Rush? Maybe it's just me but that seems like a foolish move. And why push it all the way for another year? That's a long delay...

...of course that's on the fact that if there is one, as noted.

They already missed the holiday rush with the last delay. They already slipped it into next day, but this is an even longer delay.

Most people are attributing it to mutually developing for both the PS3 and the 360. The PS3 architecture is notoriously dodgy to work with.

Still, if it means the game turns out more polished because of the delay, I'm not going to complain. <3

This better be the freaking best GTA I've ever freaking played for the amount of delay this is taking.
Another WHOLE YEAR?!

What can honestly take so long that they want to do that? when it was pretty much ready earlier this year.

There's been an update on this.
