Ghostbusters: The Video Game not canned says anonymous source

Speaking under strict conditions of anonymity, a UK source familiar with the Activision Blizzard merger has confirmed to VG247 that the Ghostbusters video game hasn't been canned, but will simple be put out to tender.

The game was assumed cancelled this morning when Activision confirmed that the only Vivendi games to make the transition in Acitivision Blizzard would be Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age, Spyro, Prototype and an as-yet unannounced property.

“I wouldn’t use the word ‘canned’ on Ghostbusters if I were you,” said the anonymous source “It’s basically being put out to tender. Considering where it is in development, hopefully someone else will pick it.”

While the situation with Ghostbusters seems clear, there appears to be some confusion as to the state of play of other IPs such as World in Conflict and Brutal Legend.

“I guess that if there are Sierra games that aren’t mentioned in the Activision press release, then they’re part and parcel of the stuff that’s going out to tender, but I don’t know for sure,”

I swear... if Brutal Legend gets cancelled, I will weep. Profusely.

Forgive the noob but...Brutal Legend?

So Ghostbusters is in a bit of limbo? Neither off the table nor in any sort of development?

It's being developed by one of the true comic geniuses of gaming; Tim Schafer, and starring the legendary Jack Black as the lead character.

It's "dead" until they can find another publisher / developer to sell them too. I imagine there's gonna be lots of offers for some of those games.
