Funcom announced today that more than 400,000 players have already signed up and entered the world of their new MMORPG, Age of Conan, making it one of fastest-selling ever for PC and on the MMORPG scene.

"The initial sales and reviews are very encouraging, and it's great to see that so many are enjoying Age of Conan," said Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas.

"This is just the beginning, and we already look forward to massive updates and cool new features. We believe our focus on making Conan unique and groundbreaking is a key reason for the initial success. This is a focus we will keep and reinforce, and players can expect continued quality and innovation as we enter a new era for the game."

The MMO actually succeeded in selling out before it even launched launch, so if the game continues to maintain this kind of momentum , it looks like there's going to be a healthy future ahead for Age of Conan.

Well you know how I feel about this, I have a massive thread dedicated to it in the MMORPG forum.

About 8 guys in my platoon have bought it already. Last I saw they were installing it and trying to choose which character classes to begin the game with.
Companies like Funcom making it big and releasing a game that can finally stand up to WoW makes me damned proud to be Norwegian. (Funcom's from Norway, in case you didn't know). Now, if they could just finish The Longest Journey!

Magus, you should get your platoon mates to register and talk AoC nerdy.

Or post up their screenshots.

Meh.
I dont like the price for this game.
It's more expensive than WoW, and that is not a good marketing stratedgy.

But imagine all the things you get in exchange for the small extra charge

WoW had its run. Even with the expansion coming out, it's just new bells and whistles on an old premise.

The time and effort shines more in AoC than it does in WoW. I've played WoW extensively, and I won't deny that it is a good game and it has its great points, I'm sure half of the AoC population agrees with that as well and I bet they also agree that they need something new.

If they're going to pay for a videogame, why not make it worth it? I assure you, Age of Conan is worth every penny.
