Tbh, I wonder most on who approached who. Whether SquareEnix saw the potential for more profit by releasing on to a console that has a vast gamership. Or whether Microsoft are actively seeking out games of multiple genres to create a bigger variety... (I know I keep going on about it, but I see the 360 as a FPS console only). |

dont more people own 360's in the west and more people own PS3's in the east? Makes sense to release on consoles that are proving to be the most succesfull in certian areas, makes more profit | |||

Was that your statement, or was that hiddenly quoted from someone else? Because I'm willing to bet it'll sell better on the 360 in NA, due to the PS3 easily being in 3rd, in the consumer's eyes. Besides MGS4, there's no real key app for it (although some games, like LBP, could be big if Sony's advertising it right).
I don't even have one yet, and I see a bunch of different genres on the 360 right now. RPG's, Adventure/Platformers, a few puzzle, etc. |

Oh, in NA and EU it'll sell better on the 360, just because more people have them and wont be willing to buy a PS3 for that game when it's coming out on the 360. Whereas in Japan, a majority of the people have a PS3 and would prefer to keep the brand loyalty. |

At first glance it would make sense that you wouldn't release XIII on 360 in Asia because the market penetration is much lower there. Then again games like LO, BD, and the latest Tales game had people lining up to buy the console and game. So I am starting to think that it's a missed opportunity. I also assumed Microsoft went to SE about this deal in the first place considering thats been the case with previous big games. Anymore it's sounding like a stranger and stranger deal they struck. Seeing how it isn't coming out on 360 in Asia and why Versus or even Agito wasn't part of it. Maybe Sony became involved somewhere and held on to XIII in Japan, Versus and brought about the PSP version of Agito XIII. Who knows. |
