I have to agree with them. Whilst it's not my favourite game of the year, it's unquestionably one of the best games made in a long time. Trust me, this isn't a magazine to play into hype - they gave FFX 6 out of 10. Take a look at the game for a second. Visual, it's impecible. The playworld is incredibly lush and vibrant, with a level of artistry that's sorely lacking in most game, and the Final Fantasy series in general, over the last few years. It's story isn't over-bearing and pointlessly convoluted. It's sound direction is impeccible, with expert voice talent. The gameplay is also deep, diverse, intuitive, and highly technical. Just because it's a sequel doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the award. |

For once, I actually agree with most of these results. The only problem I have is The Sound Design vote for Dragon Quest VIII (feelings about it are similar to the first Xenosaga game, see here http://forums.videogamechat.net/showthread.php?t=48"]http://forums.videogamechat.net/showthread.php?t=48[/URL] ) but other than that, it's good. ![]() |

I agree with Mobius, everything looks good there apart form the audio design award. Although Dragon Quest VIII was a good game, I wouldn't say the music or sound effects were all that spectacular. |

We're talking about the same year games like Oblivion and Twilight Princess launched in. Having played all three, I honestly think those two are far above FFXII, as nice as it may be. |
