Strange decisions all round with this one, as Square Enix announce that not only with the next sequel in the direct numerical Dragon Quest series will not only be handheld, but on the Nindendo DS of all choices!
Most of us here will be familiar with the series, renowned for the fact that it is the only RPG to outsell the Final Fantasy series in Japan. So it may come as a shock to fans to hear of this decision.
Some nalysist think this could be a huge blow for Sony, as the Dragon Quest franchise is considered a top-tier franchise, with sales of well over 41 million copies worldwide. The decision to port the next "official" game to the Nintendo console is certainly unexpected, to say the least.
With a number of major franchises jumping ship to Nintendo (or at least, jumping off Sony's) over the last couple of months, we could be in for a number of surprises.
Who knows... maybe Sonic
will appear in Super Smash Brothers Brawl, after all?

Wow, I bet Sony's about to shit right now. I have a warm fuzzy feeling
that Sony's about to lose a lot of its steam in this console war. |

This game has an action battle system, (Zelda-esque) or however you call it. It can supposedly be played as a co-op game between several players over Nintendo Wi-Fi.
Being a major co-op RPG fan, I'm hyped. |

Glad to hear that they're doing something different with the DQ series. As much as I like DQ the adherence to talk menus annoyed the crap out of me. That, and a few other things. But a Zelda-styled DQ would be awesomeness. Too bad they couldn't set it up so you could pick up slimes and throw them. |
