Chrono Trigger DS Japanese debut trailer released

A week or so ago, we had seen that Square Enix had modified their Japanese site with that of a clock. You are thinking "oh, no big deal, right?" WRONG! The clock seem to have some resemblance to the clock like C to Chrono Trigger, which is without a doubt probably one of the greatest RPGs of all time and perhaps the SNES as well.

Well, the rumors have been spoken and now your wish has been granted, here is the the trailer you so desire to see:

Though I am not really happy with Square Enix making money left and right with ports, I am happy that it doesn't include the words "Final Fantasy *insert any roman numeral of choice here*". Considering how their recent ports have turned out though and have done pretty good overall, can't say I blame them for wanting to put this game back in the spotlight. Though if anybody who can redo their games right, it is Square.

I just hope they keep Woolsey's script (The original translation is somewhat dry from what I hear) and add more to it (like FFVIA did). Though it does not look that different in the trailer or is that just used game footage, so I guess we wait and see.

Though there was no real gameplay, perse, it did look good.
what I am wondering, is the gameplay with the window around it, is is possibly going to use that? Like pokemon?

Also, I would have honestly thought, an amazing game like that, could have used a retouch to it's advantage, but that could be me.

I do hope this actually comes out over in Europe.

So is this just going to be a port of the original? No DS specific control system or anything?

If that's true, that's a little disappointing, but hey, its still a portable Crono Trigger, which you can't really complain about.

Evren: DS games aren't region lock, so even if it doesn't come out in Europe, you could still get your hands on an import version if you really wanted it.

I agree, I think an upgrade in graphics would be appropriate but hey, I'm glad just to have CT on a handheld. I'd always felt it needed to be. I would also like to see some additional dungeons and optional bosses, just to give the game a bit more bang for our buck.

Agreed, as long as it comes out in America, I dont fancy reading too much Japanese.

Why, thank you. :) I think you're awesome too.

I was hoping we'd see something something more in the trailer. This was mostly images of the old SNES game, and I hope this game will be more than just another port. CT is still awesome, though.

I think keeping the same graphic style and not modifying the gameplay to much was a wise choice for SE. It keeps cost low when they are in the midst of making a whole lot of remakes, originals, and ported games. Plus it seems the mere ports of their other series have done better then many of their make overs. The original style I think may resonate with more people then a overhaul.

As for the trailer it looks good. I love the music in Chrono Trigger so when that music started I was instantly hooked. I also noticed a few of the names were different. I haven't played enough of either the english or japanese so I am not sure if the names were just translated wrong or interpreted differently for the english, but I like the japanese names better. It's probably unlikely they will change the names after all this time though.

The one thing I really want to know is how it's going to take advantage of the DS. How the stylus, wireless, and extra dungeon will look and work. Till then I will have to anxiously sit and wait.
