Cecil confirmed for Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Now here's one that will make all of the Final Fantasy fans here very, very, happy.

Popular Japanese gaming magazine Shonen Jump managed to scope this juicy little reveal; Cecil Harvey, the famous lead of Final Fantasy IV, will be joining the playable character roster (in both in his Paladin and Dark Knight form) of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, alongside the game's lead villain, Golbez.

At this rate, it looks very likely that the entire lead cast of the numerical Final Fantasy games will make it into Dissidia. It has already been confirmed that the villain characters Exdeath and Kefka - from FFV and FFVI respectfully - will appear in Dissidia, so the respective heroes can't be far behind.

Final Fantasy VI is famous for its lack of a "central" character, so who makes the cut from that game may be interesting, but considering the lack of female heroes in the game, this journalist's bet is on Terra.

Which only leaves Cloud. Sephiroth was one of the first characters revealed for the game, but is the only confirmed cast member so far without a Nomura sketch, and Cloud has been notoriously absent from all edia, but this might be entirely intentionally. FFVII is the most popular (deserved or otherwise) title in the franchise, so holding out on the big reveal until right near the end may be exactly what Square is planning.

Excited? I know I am!

I am glad they chose Golbez instead of Zeromus, because Golbez just looks so awesome! I am pretty sure Exdeath hasn't been confirmed yet either. I also remember in an interview with Nomura that one FF would be excluded.

Cloud being in Dissidia is about as certain as the sky is blue. I imagine they are holding it back for the release. Now which costume will he wear though? :P

I would imagine the most likely exclusion would be FFXI, due to the whole MMORPG thing, and the lack of a distinctive lead character or villain.

What about FFXII and FFXIII though? Personally, I think it would be great if Lightning made the final cast.

His current getup I would assume. Just cause it's the most popular ones right now.

I'm most curious about whether this is gonna be canon or not. Especially withthe whole FFI / FFIX Garland thing and the fact that Kuja has been shown conversing with him. It could honestly make for a decent story if its done right.

And apparently... Dissidia will have twice as much spoken dialogue as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Ouch!

Wow, twice as much dialoge? And it's a fighter to boot.

So far as I know, it's only the first 10 FF's. I would LOVE to see Vaan and Vayne. Mostly likely though its probably not going to happen. The over arching story of Chaos and Cosmos makes it seem less likely that it's canon. You never know though. They need to announce a release date outside Japan.

Terra has got to be in this game. >_> There needs to be more female characters, honestly.

Personally, I think it's very strange that we're still Cloud-less, but really... There's no other real option for the Hero of VII. Although, if there are unlockable characters then I'm pretty certain that we'll get Zack too.

There is a serious lack in women in this game.
I find this wrong.

But however, I do like the characters that they have announced, and of course, I will be buying this game. =D

He dosen't look too half bad in this. Wasn't entirely surprised at his appearance but I'm very happy about it nonetheless. I'm not much of a fighter gal, but I'll likely pick this up when it comes around just for the pure fun of kicking everyone's ass with Sephiroth. :P

Hoping to see either Terra or Celes declared as the heroine for the FFVI side to tackle Kefka. I'm not too fussed who it is in the end, as long as we have some more estrogen to add. <3
