Assassin's Creed prequel DS bound

The ambitious Assassin's Creed is a title most of us have experienced at this point, and whilst opinions on the game are squarely split down the middle, it's sales have pretty much assured that a sequel is already in the works.

Whilst we wait for that though, Ubisoft will be offering fans of the new franchise a DS prequel.

The avid staff of Go Nintendo recently snagged a shot of boxart (which can be seen below) of a DS bound Assassin's Creed game, a prequel which will explore lead hero Altair's history before the start of the first game.

The official title of the game will be Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles.

How such a high-scale, high concept game such as Assassin's Creed will translate down onto the diminutive Nintendo DS is anyone's guess, but mobile game experts GameLoft will be handling the direct development duties.

I just can't imagine, after playing Assassin's Creed, attempting to sit down and
play a version with crapped up DS graphics. I just...can't. It would be...wrong...somehow.

I know this won't be anywhere near the quality (gameplay and graphics wise) of the console version, but I'm still interested in it. It should be fun to see how it translates to the DS, and how well they utilize the touch screen.

Please dont make me sad.
This wont have any of the prettyness. And TBH, the gameplay wasn't exactly brilliant on AS anyway.
It kinda fueled my boredem.

This really isn't going to be special. There are certain things that work on the DS. Phantom Hourglass? But this....

The whole point was how absolutely gorgeous it was.

It's going to be sad.

Hey, if it will work for Super Mario Bros. DS, Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass, and soon Ninja Gaiden: The Dragon Sword (I believe), then there might be a good chance it might work, besides graphics aren't everything, if it's fun then we have no real argument against it.
