Only a few days ago did we
discover the existence of a DS bound Assassin's Creed, but it looks like Ubisoft and portable game specialist GameLoft have been hard at work on this title for longer than we might have thought, and it's already close to release.
Today, Ubisoft officially unveiled the existence of Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles alongside a scattering of screenshots, and announced that the title would be hitting UK stores in February, retailing at £29.99.
"The success of Assassin's Creed worldwide has been incredible and we're excited to delve deeper into the story and bring it to the Nintendo DS," said John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft. "Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles will be a title that resonates with those who played the console version as well as those who have yet to discover the secrets of Assassin's Creed."
From a quick glance at the screenshot, it looks like the game is definately aiming for the same lofty heights (both figuratively and literally) as it's bigger brother, and it's going to inch out every last bit of power that it can from the DS.
Gameplay will take place in fully realised and detailed 3D locations, in what appears to be more linear but clearly scalable locations, with fully built in stealth mechanics and battle systems.
Much like the consistently impressive looking DS bound Ninja Gaiden title, this easily has the potential to be something extremely impressive, assuming it can be pulled off successfully.

Oh cool.
If they do pull it off, that'll definately be worth getting.
*mental note to look out for it* |

I am getting this and nothing will stop me, well after I get paid nothing will stop me.
It's is looking good for a DS game and if the gameplay lives up to this hype it should be a star game for Nintendo's latest handhold. |

I think it might sell just out of fan curiosity. |

I am still very wary of it; it's a fine line they're walking right now, between making something unique and fun and selling out. |
