Another Reason to Live In NYC

In yet another reason for many people to live in NYC, the first annual Come Out And Play festival will happen this weekend. This is a festival dedicated to street games. It is three days of play, talks, and celebration, all focused on new types of games and play.
What is so phenomenal or exciting about this? How often are you able to play old school games such as Space Invaders on the side of a building? Not only is it on the side of a building, but you are your own controller! Throw your arms up in the air to shoot those beasties out of the sky.
NYC, hub for some of the craziest moments alive such as sharing your geekdom by going to Central Park, one of the largest parks there is, armed only with a lightsaber. Join teams and fight it out! Or, if you aren't so much into fighting, Central Park hosts PDA sessions. That's right! Public Displays of Affection. A huge make-out party throughout the entire park.
Starting this Friday at 6pm, gamers of all types will be gathering to take part in this festival. Not only can you play strategy games such as Payphone Warriors (a game where you and a team try and own the most pay phones in Manhattan at any one given time by calling in on them to your base. Base leaders keep track of when another team retakes them over and you just have to try and out smart them), exciting games such as Sonic Body Pong (Play the classic video game Pong - minus the screen! You’ll be on the court, using your sense of hearing to track the ball and your body as the paddle to hit it! Beer not included.), or even try out a whole new breed of gaming with Modal Kombat! It takes Mortal Combat and breeds it with Guitar Hero causing a blown up video game fighting interaction where an honest real guitar is your ticket to kicking ass.
Other games included are:
Pervasive Minesweeper! The classic videogame Minesweeper goes to the streets! Teams of four individuals race against each other to complete traditional Minesweeper puzzles played out across a 4-square block urban area.
Ghost Engines in the Sky! Ghost Engines is a live-action roleplaying game of existential horror, loosely set in the western horror world of the tabletop RPG Deadlands.
Human Risk! The classic game of global domination played with giant fuzzy dice and props. Manipulate the armies that currently exist around the world in your endless quest for an empire!
And many more!
Blown up video games rejoice as geeks across the nation will be here in NYC, USA to enjoy a new and much needed era to celebrate more interactive gaming.
This has been brought to you by yet another reason why you should all come and live in the United States.

That's it...I'm moving to the states! XD
Seriously though, that's too cool. And here I was all excited about my puny fantasy/video game cons. XD All that video gaming goodness...And the fact that there's so many cool ways to play and have fun with other geeks. :)
I can do without the PDAs though. |
