Soul Calibur now up on Xbox Live Arcade

A quick note to all gamers that the original Soul Calibur is on Xbox Live Arcade now for 800 MS points. With the game download comes achievements and leaderboards. The title is also completely reworked with HDTV support. Also available are themes and gamerpics for Soul Calibur IV.

For whatever reason Soul Calibur won’t be coming to PSN, far as we know. Likely the release of the original is to inspire interest in the upcoming Soul Calibur 4 in July. That or it’s convenient timing. I think the former.

A concern gamers might have is the unexplained lack of online gaming mode. However, it’s still a pleasant treat and one that’ll probably get gamers ready for the fourth installment.

You know, when I first thought about this, the omission of online multiplayer seem a big perplexing... but then I realised the obvious reason for it. Soul Calibur IV will have online multiplayer, so putting it in this game would be rather counter productive to promoting that aspect of the new title.

I've downloaded this to my 360 already, and it's great, but not a perfect conversion. For some reason, Namco figured it would be a wise idea to have everything unlocked from the start, and not include the Mission mode from the original either.

Also, the borders are horrible.

But at the end of the day, it's still the same great game it always was, and huge fun. I'd definately recommend it if you want a great nostalgia trip, especially at the insanely cheap price they're offering it for.

That's really cool, it is a good price for this game. If I pick up some points I will grab this, for certain.

This is because the game was never on the Playstation. The only part of the series on the PSX was the original game Soul Blade which is what we are hoping to get on the PSN.
