Xbox Live suffers holiday stress

Xbox 360 users may have noticed that it's been more difficult to get an online game going recently; That the service has been sluggish and three of your menu blades are stuck on the loading screen.

Why? Some colossal server error? Apparently not.

A little digging on the XBL helpline revealed that it's all our fault. We, as an online community, bogged up the servers with the extra hours of gaming we're fitting into our winter breaks, and of course, all those lucky people who found a 360 under the tree this Christmas.

Blaming the end user was hardly unexpected, considering Microsoft's reputation. But you'd expect them to foresee and prevent something like this. By and by, it's going to be fixed by the end of this week.

The gaming community will have to hold out until then.

I've heard a number of frustrations from other people concerning problems with Xbox Live over the last week or so; the reason for it doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Here's hoping they'll sort it out soon.

I am not surprised Microsoft shifts the blame to someone else.

Is it anything new for them?

*laughs* They're not that bad.

Sure, their software sucks half the time and is entirely unreliable or the most part, but they do have excellent customer support. I think saying that the user is being "blamed" for the pronlem is probably the wrong way to phrase it.

The problem was cause due to the over-use of the service, things that always happen at this time o the year, and they're doing what they can to fix it, hopefully.

...Surely they could have anticipated this, and sorted it out really.
*shrugs*
Typical really though.
