Microsoft have certainly been keeping their fans happy and interested with their console lately, and now, in line with the recent Australian and US price drop of the Xbox 360, the UK will see a similar price drop to the console, along with a confirmed UK price for the soon be released Xbox 360 Elite.

In a recent press conference, Microsoft revealed that the retail price of the Xbox 360 Pro in the UK will see a price reduction to £249.99 ($495) this coming Friday, August 24, a significant price-cut of £30. The Xbox 360 Core system, the cheaper but less fuctional version of the console, will be reduced to £179.99 ($355), down from £199.99, which will see it sitting on the same price fence as Nintendo's Wii Console.

The rest of Europe will follow suit shortly ater, with the Pro console being cut in Euro-currency countries to an RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of €349.99, and the Core machine being reduced to €279.99.

Along with the news of price to the currently existing range of 360 consoles was news concerning the Xbox 360 Elite; which also launches in the UK this Friday; the Xbox 360 Elite will have an "estimated" retail price of £299.99 ($595) in the UK, and €449.99 in Euro-currency countries.

On top of this, Microsoft will be releasing a range of Xbox 360 accessories to coincide with the launch; a detachable 120GB hard drive for current Xbox 360 owners who don't want to upgrade to the Elite, with an "estimated" retail price £129.99 ($260) - a black wireless controller, priced at £32.99 ($65), and a (you guessed it) black rechargeable battery pack, priced at £9.99 ($20).

A hard-drive migration cable will also be available to buy for free at http://www.xbox.com ; the purpose of this migration cable is to allow a (once off) transfer of content from a 20GB hard drive in a standard Xbox 360 to the Xbox 360 Elite and it's higher capacity 120GB hard drive.

There is a downside to this though. Due to a nature of downloadable content on Xbox Live, this account can only be accessed by using the same Xbox Live Gamertag you used on your previous Xbox 360, and will be completely inaccesible to new accounts created on the machine. Microsoft have announced that it is "working on a solution to the Premium-to-Elite data transfer issue" and will release more information concerning the problem closer to launch.

This is very good for those outside of the core markets for VG: North America and Japan. I hope that this contributes to a rising popularity with regard to VG.
