Sony are in the Christmas spirit this week it seems, providing firmware updates for both PS3 and PSP owners. In this article, we look at the firmware update for the PS3.
2.10 offers enhancements for the PS3's Blu-ray player, increasing the functionality of the format - including picture in picture display - as well as adding support for DivX and VC-1 video playback codecs, which opens a mind-boggling number of extra media content for use on the machine.
Hidden away amongst the update is also voice changer feature for Voice Chat, allowing every PS3 user the chance to finally fulfil their trans-gender fantasies, and annoy everyone else in the process.
A similar feature used to exist on Xbox Live until it was removed... for good reason.
The update went live earlier today, and will be available for download in all regions the next time you boot up your PlayStation 3.

So why was the feature removed, may I ask? I mean, it sounds like a hella of a lot of fun. :P
Also, good on Sony for doing more for their consumers. About time. |

Because the thought of getting hit on by a 45 year old man pretending to be a 20 year old woman isn't entirely appealing - a fact which no doubt many of the Xbox Live community will agree on. *laughs* |

How well do those voice changing things actually work anyway? |

Not very, usually.
It kinda baffles me why they even bothered. Surely they have better things to spend their time and resources on... like PlayStation Home? |
