Kind of a shitty thing for those who wanted to get one this year, but in my opinion it's not so bad. Gives me more time to save money, and there's really not many good launch titles anyway.

well, I was really hoping it would be out on time, but I'm not surprised that it won't be. I am a bit pissed off though because i was going to wait until around february/march when the price starts to drop before i get one, so that i could get MGs4 on release day. but now that that's not happening itll probably be around this time next year before I actually get around to getting one nice one sony ![]() |

Dude, the PS3 won't see a price drop for at least a year anyway... |

surely the price will drop after six months or so. and straight after christmas aswell, with all the sales and everything, but it looks like we'll miss even that now anyway |

As I've heard, they are only allowing 400,000 PS3's for launch in the United States. I am starting to think it is all hype and not even really worth it. All that consumerism...the want and demand table and such. As they make a lower amount, they create more of a demand and get more money. Longer wait = more people will pay top dollar. *shrugs* Maybe I'm just cynical this morning.

All I know is that down here, the PS2 didn't drop its price for a year. Some stores offered it like 30 dollars cheaper during store sales, but 30 bucks isn't all that much. |

Yeah, the big price drops don't happen for awhile. Unless the system just doesn't sell *coughdreamcastcough*, you're gonna be waiting awhile. And even AFTER the first price drop, it's still gonna be expensive as sin. That being said...not surprised. Happy, too...this means I'll DEFINITELY be getting myself a Wii this year. I don't WANT to shell out all that cash for a PS3, but I sold my soul to Sony a long time ago, and they in turn pawned it out to Squeenix, so... |

I have to admit I was pretty pissed off when I read it over on IGN. I thought they're fricken' kidding me. It's no surprise anywho, but then I thought about it, and I guess it's ok, gives me time to save up for the big-bad price it'll come with.

Wow that must suck lucky North America gets it first ;) . Personally i dont care about the PS3, not to sound rude though it may. The system doesnt appeal to me and i wouldnt fork out all that money for one of them, and besides im not much of a Playstation player. I more of an Xbox and nintendo player :)

That, and there's probaly no good launch games. I think I'll scratch the Wii and get an XBox just so I can try out Enchanted arms. But that'll probaly take ages to come out over here, too. |

Quoted for emphasis. Yeah. The console races could just be a next-gen rehashing of the tortoise and the hare. PS3 could still, at least hypothetically, redeem itself when it launches in November, even despite how behind they are already with the competition. Creating a high enough demand for the consumer, at least in the beginning, does help to properly break a new system into the market. Straight economics. And hell, The PAL delay might just make them sell all the more faster come March. In the long run, however, it isn't the console that makes or breaks a video game provider. It's the games. This is why Nintendo has nothing to worry about. Graphics and sound, while important factors, are still secondary in their books. Gameplay and the overall fun factor, however, that's where you live. What we have in Sony is a multimedia company that's more focused on the safeguarding of its data as opposed to what it is hardcore gamers want, and I'm willing to bet this is going to be the reason it's going to lose considerable market share at some point or other in the new year. |

I gotta agree, I was annoyed by the news. But we Europeans should perhaps consider a positive light, by the time it finally arrives here, it's likely to have any other initial problems fixed. But despite being a Sony fan since the PS, I too am starting to lose my faith. This isn't the first "delay" they've announced, I remeber the PSP was stated as limited availability in the UK, but soon after the launch, the market was stacked with them. Poor logistics? Or clever marketing? Let's face it though, the first wave (or two) of games will not push the PS3 to it's full capability. All the trailers I've seen so far, okay look good because of the HD, but they are not a giant leap from PS2. If Sony are to corner the market, they need a "killer console" which cannot be touched. (queue Hammer..). Sadly, I can see Sony may be digging their own grave over this. Hope I'm wrong. |

I'm in two minds about this. I'll be getting a PS3 regardless of launch date, so it may be a good thing I have time to put away some extra $. And to be honest there will be planty of good games to play on the sytems I'm currently using until march next year, so i'm not going to throw some sort of tantrum its been delayed. But is it just me being extremely cynical, or did everyone else just know this was going to happen? When has any sony launch run smoothly? Be it clever marketing ploy to build demand or a genuine shortage this is going to piss off alot of people. And the market is getting a lot closer at the moment too , so if its a ploy to build demand its an extremely arrogant one which could see a lot of Sony supporters jump ship. So I suppose its good for me, and potentially really crappy for Sony. We'll have to see. |
