Courtesy of CVG, the PS3 cross media bar's expansion in he next firnware update, 2.40 looks to like it could be quite... well... expansive, if the below list turns out to be true.

The aim with the PS3 2.40 Firmware update is to make the XMB (cross media bar) available from within games and Blu-ray playback, which has been criminally impossible until now, adding some major limitations to what is otherwise a great interface.

The list below is presumably a leaked list of features that will be available on the XMB during games and Blu-ray playback. Take it as you will.

There's speculation going around that the update will be released during the E3 event. We'll have to wait and see.

Please oh please let this mean we can use our own music in game.

I always hated the lack of that features mainly cause I always want to try playing DMC4 with DMC1 music. XD

*points up* That would be an incredibly fun feature. I use to do it manually--as in turning off the sound in a game and turning up my MP3 player, but it would be so much better if you had the on the console device itself.
