As if most of us haven't been waiting long enough for Sony to make up their minds on the issue, a proper, official European (and Australian) release date for the PS3 has finally been settled - mark it on your calendars folks; March 23rd!

First, the good news: Unlike America and Japan, only one version of the console will be released in Europe - the 60GB hard-drive model, which no "basic" package, as was the case in the other two regions.

The standard retail prices for the different region are below, but do remember that these prices might vary depending on where you buy your console.

Europe - Euro Regions: €599
Great Britain: £425 sterling
Australia: $AUS999.95

At launch, one million units are promised for these countries in total... but Sony have become famous for making fantastically overwhelming claims when it comes to sales and shipping figures, so it will be surprising if Sony actually succeed with this claim. Only time will tell.

28 games have also been announced as being available from day one, though a few may still be added to this list in the coming weeks.
