Microsoft apologizes; offers free XBLA game

It seems that our friends at Microsoft might not have fully anticipated the consequences the huge influx of new Xbox 360 owners, who subsequently became Xbox Live owners, over the Christmas season would have.

If you've spent any time at all on Live as of late, you might have noticed some connectivity issues such as not being able to log in at times, or performance dips.

Well, Microsoft is not happy with their performance, and in addition to apologizing and promising to resolve the issues, they're going to do Xbox Live Gold members a solid by giving us a free Xbox Live Arcade game download.

That's right. Free. As in, no denero required. While no details have yet been revealed, the Big M says that details regarding the offer will be coming in the weeks ahead.

Will we be able to pick an XBLA title of our own choosing? Will it just be one specific title or will their be a limited list from which to choose?

Questions abound, but in the end, free is free, and you can't really argue with that.

Personally, I think Microsoft did the best job they could over the holidays, but hey, if they're giving something away for free, I'm not going to complain.

I highly doubt it'll be any game of the user's choice, but a title they put up themselves. Here's hopin' it's a good one.

I didn't really notice that much of a difference aside from trying to recover my account, but that was my fault. :P I hope you can tell us when/what game we're gonna get, because I hope it's not a crummy one. Woo.

Personally, I think they should give us the time back. Its not like we lost a download. I think an eye for an eye is in order.
